The Austrian-based MGI group has been an active member of JHI since 1997. The business has offices in several key locations in Austria, including its main office in Liezen. The company has been trading since 1948 when Alfred Schreiner set up his own licensed tax consultant’s office in Liezen. His son, Helmut Schreiner, is the company’s current Managing Director.

Today, the firm offers a broad range of services across its eight Austrian locations, focused around its core business of management consulting, tax consulting and auditing. Its management consultancy is designed to provide clients with a sound business base, according to Helmut Schreiner: "We often think of a clients’ business as a ship, with its long-term goals as its destination. We’re there to help steer it in the right direction, and help it plot a safe course…no matter how rocky it gets!"ù In supporting client needs, the company offers advice at all stages of business development, from start-up to conclusion, including consultation on IT, investment, insurance, restructuring, and cost control.

The company’s tax services recognise that today’s clients are looking for more than traditional filing duties. "We view tax planning as a long term goal, and use the expertise and creativity of our staff to minimise our clients’ tax burden over the long term. That means looking at a client’s company as an entirety and putting tax planning in the context of the client’s overall finances and legal position", says Schreiner. "Our membership of JHI helps us to ensure that we stay ahead of changing international tax laws, which helps our clients get a better deal."

MGI’s audit services are at the heart of its business, and includes work for private limited companies and partnerships established on a legal or voluntary basis. The company’s clients are broad-ranging, and include associations and federations, agricultural societies, community businesses, and transportation companies, especially tourism-based industries, such as ski-lift and cablecar specialists, hotels and restaurants.
