Process of Member Application Review and Approval

JHI member applications not submitted online will be provided by JHI Headquarters pending the request approval. Please note the membership request will be reviewed, qualified and approved by JHI representatives. The primary contact for the firm will receive a letter from JHI Headquarters as formal notification of the request status.

New applications for membership in the association shall be considered for acceptance or rejection by the Region Executive Committee for the geographic area in which the applying firm is located. The Region Executive Committee's investigation of the application for membership shall include an inspection visit to the principal offices of the applicant firm. The Region Executive Committee's investigation of the application for membership shall also consider representations received from existing member firms located within 100 miles of any of the applicant firm's offices.

Upon approval, the prospective firm will receive a letter of intent to move forward with the application. JHI Headquarters will send the primary contact a prospect packet which includes the JHI Member Recruitment Brochure, a JHI Member Application and Fee Structure, a JHI Association Agreement marked “DRAFT” for review only, the JHI Member Benefits Prospectus, a one-time application fee invoice which will be reimbursed should the membership be denied for any reason, the latest issues of JHI Connections as well as additional information, instructions and next steps for the application process. Once payment is received as indicated on the application fee invoice, the appropriate JHI representatives from the firm’s region will contact the primary contact directly regarding the packet received and to schedule a site visit meeting to confirm all information presented in the application is correct.

Admission of the new member firm requires the affirmative a vote of a simple majority of the appropriate Region Executive Committee members. The applying firm, existing members of the applicable Region and the Board of Directors, shall be notified of the voting results by the Region Executive Committee Chairperson within a reasonable period of time after the voting has been concluded, but in no event later than 30 days after the vote was concluded. The Board of Directors reserves the right to reconsider the membership decisions of any Region Executive Committee.

A new member packet will be sent to the primary contact once the JHI Membership Committee, the Region Committee and the Board of Directors agree to consummate the firm as a new member. JHI Headquarters will contact the firm and send a new member packet containing valuable JHI membership material and information to the primary contact.

Each new member firm shall be required to subscribe to the Association Agreement by the binding signature of a designated representative within the new member firm. Please read the Association Agreement, sign the last page and return it to JHI Headquarters by e-mail membership@jhi.com or fax +1 973-628-1155 at your earliest convenience. Once the signed Association Agreement is received the firm may add the logos to business cards, stationery, website, PowerPoint presentations and other material to help build the JHI brand.
