It is with great pleasure that I advise that this year’s conference will be held on the cruise ship Star Virgo July 5–8, visiting Singapore, Langkawi Island, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand.

While many of you are aware that we held a similar conference back in 2006, your Regional Executive Committee has decided to revisit this type of conference for a number of reasons. These are:

1. Cost. Given the current economic climate caused by the global financial crisis, our calculations have confirmed that a cruise ship is by far the cheapest alternative for organizing the event. Your conference registration fee includes accommodation, meals, entertainment, conference sessions, organized tours and onboard ship facilities such as a theatre, evening shows, etc.

2. Convenience. Singapore is centrally located for the majority of members and again assists in reducing the overall travel costs to arrive there.

Program

The conference program will consist of a workshop run by Ms Marjolein Bervoets, Managing Director of Career Management Group. The theme of the workshop will be “Effective Business Coaching” and will be an invaluable tool to our members in gaining skills to assist their clients. She will also facilitate a session reviewing the JHI International Executive Committee’s progress on the JHI Strategic Plan.

Please use the Registration Form (pdf) to register. While the cruise leaves on July 5, for anyone wanting to arrive in Singapore on the preceding Saturday, July 4, we have secured accommodation at the M Hotel. This hotel is the closet to the port where we depart. Please indicate if you require this accommodation on the registration form.

Once again, Regional Administrative Assistant NurAzean Hamdan will be coordinating the conference registration. Please assist her in registering early, by May 15, if possible, so that we can secure the best possible rooms for our members.
